St. George Greek Orthodox Church is located in downtown Pittsfield in the Berkshire mountains of Western Massachusetts.
From the Mass Pike coming either from the east (Boston, Worcestor, Springfield) or the west (Albany) get off at Exit 2 (about 2.5 hours from Boston or 1 hour from Albany).
Turn right off the exit ramp onto Routes 20 and 7. Stay on Route 20 West/7North for 7 miles. You will pass through the towns of Lee and Lenox. When you enter Pittsfield, Route 7 becomes South St. Continue north on South St. until you come to Park Square--a large traffic circle with a little fountain. Go 1/2 way around the traffic circle, continuing onto North St.
You will pass 2 traffic lights. Bradford St. is a one way street on the left (east) across from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Turn Left on Bradford St. George is one block on the left, across from Dery Funeral Home.
From the North (Williamstown), follow Route 7 south into Pittsfield. After passing Pontoosuc Lake through several blocks, the street will split-- bear Right onto Waconah. When Waconah ends at North street, turn Right on North St. Go through one traffic light. The next street is Bradford Street, across from St. Joseph’s Church. Turn Right onto Bradford. St. George is one block on the left, across from Dery Funeral Home.
From the East (Route 9, Northampton and Dalton), follow Route 9 West through Dalton into Pittsfield. In Pittsfield, Route 9 becomes Dalton Avenue. Stay on Dalton Avenue through several lights—Dalton Avenue eventually becomes Tyler Street. At the intersection of Tyler and North St. turn left (south) and go through 2 lights. The next street is Bradford St., across from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Turn Right on Bradford. St. George is one block on the left, across from Dery Funeral Home.
From the West (Albany and Route 20 East), follow Route 20 East into Pittsfield. You will pass several lights. At the intersection at Route 20 (West Housatonic St) and South Street, turn left unto South St. In one block you will come to Park Square--a large traffic circle with a little fountain. Go 1/2 way around the traffic circle, continuing onto North Street.
You will pass 2 traffic lights. Bradford Street is a one way street on the left (East) across from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Turn Left on Bradford. St. George is one block on the left, across from Dery Funeral Home.
